Pork Dumplings


Dumpling filling

  • 1/2 cup finely chopped shiitake mushrooms
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped Napa cabbage
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped red onion
  • 1 tsp grated ginger
  • 1 tsp minced garlic
  • 2 scallions chopped (reserve 1/2 scallion chopped for garnish)
  • 1 1/4 lb pork tenderloin
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1/2 cup bbq sauce
  • 1tbs Apple cider vinegar
  • 2 tbs sesame oil


  • 2 tbs sesame oil
  • 1/4 cup sesame seeds
  • Store bought wonton wrappers
  • Soy sauce to taste


  1. In a large pot, add pork (cut into 5 sections, water, bbq sauce and apple cider vinegar – cook on low heat for 20 minutes
  2. Using two forks, pull pork apart into small sections
  3. In a pan, add sesame oil and heat to medium low heat. Add all dumpling filling (including pulled pork) into the pan and cook for 5 minutes – stirring frequently
  4. Lay out wonton wrapper and fill center with 1 tbs of filling
  5. Bring each corner of the wrapper up and towards the center- pinching to hold the wrapper together
  6. Fill a plate plate with water – dip the bottom of the wonton into water and then dip in sesame seeds and set aside on separate plate
  7. Heat a large pan to medium high heat with 2 tbs of sesame oil – add wontons and cook for two minutes or until the sesame is golden brown
  8. Add 1/2 cup of water (not pouring directly on the wonton) and cook for five more minutes
  9. Remove from pan- garnish with scallions and sesame seeds – dip in soy sauce
